Moving into Wellow in 2018, it only took a few days to be sounded out for committee membership. I resisted the temptation to jump at the first invitation despite a wish to get stuck in. I’m very glad I held off until Wellow Rec came knocking. With three teenage children (Jack, Alice and Romilly), a sporty wife (Lucy) and an ambition to remain active myself, Wellow Recreation, is a great community initiative with which to be involved.

One the things that struck us when we considered moving to Wellow was the recreation ground. We had seen many uninspiring ones elsewhere. It was clear that Wellow is a village interested in looking after the outdoor aspirations of all its residents. Since arriving we have dusted off tennis rackets, dug out boules and have all spent time on the exercise machines (some more secretly than others). Our eldest boy is even being messy, or is that Messi, on the football pitch. We may all be a bit too old to truly appreciate the Play Park, but it is wonderful to have an opportunity to be a small part of the incredible group getting this latest Wellow Rec project over the line.
